Acer is in full mood to give many shockers in its Global press conference and the latest news coming out makes ‘Acer’ the next big player to enter consumer tablet space and that too, with two screen sizes.

At their global conference, Acer has just unveiled 7-incher and 10.1-incher Android tablets(Froyo), slated for launch in April 2011. With holiday season just around the corner, Acer’s intentions of giving a teaser of their upcoming tablets is pretty obvious.

With sneak peak of their tablets, Acer’s underlying message to consumers is..

“Don’t you spend your money on iPad, Galaxy Tab or any existing tab…We aren’t too far away and we’ve got much more to offer”

• Processor: Dual-core 1GHz processor
• Screen resolution: 1280×800 (!) screen resolution

With big names like Amazon, Sony jumping into tablet space with their e-reader cum tablet, HP already selling its enterprise tablet and preparing for upcoming WebOS tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tab looking strong and now Acer chipping into this booming market as well, iPad will sure have to juggle with much more competitors in 2011.

For now, 2010 is all about iPad. Holiday season is about to begin and no competitive tablet, except Galaxy Tab, is up for sale. This Black Friday, Apple is sure to record new sales milestones.
